Our RSS Feed

We have recently added RSS feeds as an option for instant delivery of all site updates direct to your browser. Currently we offer two feeds, one for our three pipe brands (Talbert Briar, Talbert Morta, and Ligne Bretagne), and one for our general interest "Life in France" section.

Why?

Several reasons. First, marketing by email list is becoming increasingly difficult as more and more ISPs employ aggressive spam filtration that rejects anything that vaguely looks commercial, including such emails as our opt-in list. Customers don't realize their ISP is rejecting their email, and complain that they haven't received any notices. Today it is frequently neccessary for one to specify "OK" emails with their ISP's anti-spam filters in order to be assured of receipt. Secondly, it's another means of reaching people, and that is always good. Finally, it offers some serious advantages to the interested party over notice via the email list. One has assured reception of all notices (no lost emails, no filtered emails) and it puts the power back into the hands of the individual - rather than signing up to a list, you can choose to receive notices or not, disable as you wish, and even have the power to pick and choose. Currently the site is divided into two channels - one for pipes, the other for our "Life in France" section. This will allow non-pipe people to subscribe solely to the French cultural site, while dedicated pipe people can skip those updates if they wish. IN FUTURE, I may even break the channels into one for each pipe brand, so a person could choose whether to receive updates ONLY for Talbert Briars, or Ligne Bretagne or whatever. If anyone would like this option, let me know. I'd like to hear all your impressions, since this is a testing phase for the idea and it isn't 100% that I will carry on with the feeds - I need to know if they are useful or not.
