Goblins
Goblin #17
"Gabblehaunt"

After the crawling horror of Dhoggott, it was time to get back to the Goblin theme of fat, warty, scampering underbrush creatures.  Gabblehaunt is a particularly fat example, with a huge bowl, extremely thick walls, and enormously fat waddling legs.  He also got smooth claws on his toes, the better to keep him balanced as he scurries about.

As the pics above show, Gabblehaunt isn't all about monstrous shape - He also has quite a nice sandblast that shows off some exceptional ring grain stacked evenly around the entire bowl.  This pipe reminded me of something for a while, and I couldn't figure out what, but on reflexion I think it somehow gives me a very Godzilla/kaiju sort of feel, with its massive, lifelike shape and sense of being in motion.  Maybe it's those huge rear legs propeling it forward that give me Godzilla flashbacks.  (I refer, of course, to real Godzilla, not GINO)

The above and below pics show off Gabblehaunt's other striking feature - One of the prettiest horn stems I have yet seen.  It really has extraordinarily striking coloring and grain, with lots of grain detail and color contrast.

The smoker's view...
While the bowl grain shows off best from the front and sides, the back view is the most fun - It reminds me of a huge jumping spider getting ready to leap.  Should be an ideal pipe for anyone interested in really big, thick-walled, massive-proportioned pipes.  The fun thing is that the burly proportions just make those delicate little smooth claw/toes look all the more lifelike.  The perfect summertime garden Goblin!
