Goblins
Goblin #12
"Festertoad"

Festertoad started out as a mushroom, but went bad somewhere along the way and ended up living many years lurking under the wet leaves in a dark and dank forest.  I wanted to give it a sense of a bulbous mushroom gradually heaving itself up from the roots, perhaps in preparation to crawl away somewhere...

It's another biggie, as Goblins are wont to be.  The intentional assymetry of the cosmetic parts of the pipe (bowl rim, stem curve, and more) were intended to give the piece a natural feel while keeping the important technical bits (wall thickness, pipecleaner passage) proper for a good smoking pipe.  The entire bowl actually sways slightly down its length - the rootlets at the bottom tilt to the side rather than dropping straight down.

I used a deeper green stain for this one, and the mixed green & brown tones do a good job of showing off the nice flame grain and excellent bowl rim bird's-eye with being "showy" about it.  I love green pipes!  I don't really care that others find the color weird - I genuinely enjoy them and never cease to be entertained by what a distinctively unique look they can give to briar grain.

The dangling root tendrils are lightly sandblasted for texture effect.  Interestingly, while the pipe grips comfortably in either hand, it fits absolutely perfectly into a left-handed grip - the curve of the bowl and rim seem to fit the hand ideally.

Everyone needs a Festertoad in the Springtime...!
