Quiberon
The port city of Quiberon is a little over an hour's drive from our shop. It sits at the tip of a peninsula.

Emily at Quiberon
Emily says hi from the docks of Quiberon. This area of the town has a beach, hundreds of tourist shops and restaurants, and a busy port running ferries across to Belle-Isle. These pics were all taken in middle-July in high tourist season - look at those crowds!

More crowds
The week of July 14th is not a good time to visit the beaches in Brittany, as it's just like the weekend of the 4th in the US. Every place is crowded!

Hotel
The town of Quiberon is as beautiful and goofy as most of the other towns in Brittany, and has the usual combination of pristine charm and sheer wackiness. When I saw the windows of the Hotel de L'Ocean, I just had to get a picture of them...

Downtown Quiberon
Downtown Quiberon is a bustling madhouse of cars and people in the summertime. There are a million interesting nooks to poke into and a million expertly-crafted tourist traps to empty your wallet! It's great fun to see, though, and we hope to go back in the off-season when we can explore a bit more leisurely.

Les Korrigans
One fun little dockside shop is "Les Korrigans" - in English, "The Goblins" or "The Little People". It's an entire shop dedicated to the Celtic legends and folklore of Brittany, and you can buy everything from amazing t-shirts to a hundred types of painted goblins to a pile of books of Breton legends (seen above). They have local music, crafts, and some really fun mead horns and beer mugs.
