The Staff of the Mairie
Above, from left to right, are Anne-Françoise Blouet, Marie-Claude Lafite, and Sylvie Guibert. These three ladies were a big help to us with getting our carte de sejour. This paper is one's permit to live and work in France, and like all paperwork here, it was a major challenge to push through the government offices. Madame Lafite handled the actual applications, while Madame Guibert had the duty of calling the local prefecture regularly to pester them along. I can't imagine what this would have been like without the town government on our side, and these ladies were extremely helpful and patient with our ignorance of French procedures.
