That's an photographic effect caused by the convex shape of the
bowl top. Positives: Another large calabash, intended to be completed as a companion to the Freehand Calabash previously posted but rather derailed during production by various events here. Why did I call it "the wicked"? The sandblasting is not only very good, but also rather bizarre - the depth of the ring patterns combined with the splay of grain shooting up through them produced a surface which is slightly creepy looking in an HR Giger biomechanical sort of way. Even the bird's-eye at the rim looks like tiny twisted eyes. It's an exceptional ring grain pattern. Negatives: None. I want it.
