Name: The Wedge

Notes:  After multiple discards, I get this - a pipe nice enough to be left an unstained natural!

Positives:   Unusual and exceedingly Talbert-esque, I think.  I started to make this block into a basic horn, just looking for a shape that I could finish quickly and reliably, but got carried away playing with it as usual.  All-over grain with great bird's-eye splashed all over the front of the bowl (Hard to see in the photo).  The mortise decor is done with an olivewood insert, and the stem is made from my personal favorite material of all, an acrylic version of cumberland.  It's much darker, so it is difficult to see the grain in the photos, but I find it beautiful material and the smoker won't have to keep polishing the thing to guard against that ebonite fade.  Surprisingly light for its size, too.

Negatives:   The airhole enters the bowl bottom slightly off-center, though level with the bottom.  Also, this is another of my razor-thin stems - 3mm thick - beloved of those who hold their pipes in their hands, but possibly not the best choice for anyone who hard clenches a lot.
