Notes: Here is a pipe that was never intended to be finished! I have been working on a new method of drilling for some time now, and just shaped/carved a set of custom chuck jaws capable of holding fully-shaped stummels (the idea is to be able to shape the pipe before drilling, as the Danes do, but also be able to chuck the stummels for drilling rather than having to use spoon bits and hand-hold the stummel). I think I've perfected the process now and will probably be doing a lot of Talbert Briars this way in the future. I wanted to test my chuck clamps with a really unusual stummel shape, so I quickly roughed a small Algerian block into an odd and completely lopsided bowl shape. It clamped and drilled perfectly, with excellent bit centering, and I noticed that the block did have some nice bird's-eye on top and would make a perfectly smokable pipe, so I decided to reshape the bowl and finish it. Voila! A fully-rusticated churchwarden with smooth bird's-eye rim, hand-shaped for the price of a standard LB. It has a small bowl but it will likely make a great flake smoker for somebody. It is unstained.

Length: 21cm

Bowl Height: 3.5cm

Weight: 24.3g
