Notes: Another Collector-grade with a background story. This is the first all-smooth Collector grade I've made, and it was (more obviously than most) originally intended to be a Talbert Briar. It was an experiment with a new method of drilling for me that's completely different from what I've been doing. Unfortunately, the airhole ended up entering the bowl bottom a bit left of center, though still even with the bottom. This, combined with the fact that I wasn't 100% sure how the shape would look when finished, made me decide to finish this as a Ligne Bretagne Collector instead of doing all the extra work that would have been needed to make it a Talbert. I think that, more and more, I will be using the LB Collector grade as a "rough sketch area" for Talbert Briar designs - it is much easier to finish a potential design in order to see how it works, but they don't all end up looking as graceful or polished as I prefer for the Talbert Briars to be, so I will be doing various unusual ideas as LB Collectors for the first try. If the designs look good, they can be developed into regular Talbert Briar shapes. There will be more Talbert Briars in a very similar design to this, because I really like how it turned out, though it was total hell to try to capture in photographs. It is a large pipe with a very deep bowl, and is really quite graceful to see. The grain speaks for itself in the photos! The airhole is centered and straight, and passes a cleaner effortlessly. The only real disadvantage of this design depends on which hand one holds the pipe with. It conforms to the palm contours and grip when held in the left hand, but it does not work in the right hand at all - the curved bottom point pokes you in the center of the palm. Anyone consideirng buying this pipe should pay attention to how they hold their pipes most often - I would not recommend the pipe for anyone who usually holds the pipe in their right hand. Lefties, rejoice, because it works ideally!
