Notes:  I got a wild inspiration and did three of these horn-stemmed chubby apples together, and what a contrast they all are from each other!  At first glance I would have thought the stems were too short for the pipes, but when fitted and finished I think they make an ideal chubby, friendly combination.  
Rich, rich, rich - I have a soft spot for really chocolatey dark browns and for whatever reason, my mind always associates them with being expensive and classy... very much the after-dinner social occasion pipe.  It does present a photography problem, though, as it's difficult to get the grain to show (this pipe has a very nice cross-grain pattern with bird's-eye on both sides).  Plus, it came out SO glossy after waxing that it didn't want to do anything but make big light reflections.  Perhaps I should start photographing smooth pipes before waxing...
Interestingly, despite being smooth, it's barely heavier than the two identical sandblasts.
