The Helix

This was a very unusual block, in that it was almost a spiral radiation of grain. I decided to take advantage of this with a curving "top" effect, where the grain starts flat on the bottom and then spirals upward, around the bowl and over onto itself again, with bird's-eye across the upper surfaces. It was a hard thing to do, but I think the result was a nicely artistic piece. It's currently in the collection of Jeff Folloder.
