Grendel's Mother

 The most work of any pipe I've made thus far.  I was sketching and doodling different ideas, trying to find some visual way of getting across the character of Grendel's even nastier mother.  I wanted long fingers and claws to connect it to the previous Grendel pipe, but I wanted it to be bigger and heavier, and when I hit upon the idea of a clawed hand wrapping around an egg bowl I knew I had it.  The egg is a nice symbolic representation of the female element, and in its presentation it carries a visual echo of the Venus of Willendorf.
