Chihiro

This pipe was named for the young heroine of the animated film "Spirited Away", which is one of my favorite movies. I wanted to try and capture some sense of the vivid originality and twisting complexity of the film in the pipe's design - whether I managed this is up to individual opinion, but in any event I am pleased with the final design, and plan to make more like this if I have the time and appropriate briar. Designs like this are important to me because I want my pipes to combine a sense of drama with practical usefulness - to me, if the pipe is so extravagant that it can't be smoked, there's no reason to do it. It is crucial, even more than with traditional shapes, that the basic tenets of good pipe design be observed (wall thicknesses, connected airholes, etc).
